South Korean shipbuilding giant Hanwha Ocean faced a significant raid on Thursday as approximately 40 police officers and government investigators descended upon its facilities. The operation was prompted by the tragic death of a subcontractor at the shipyard last month, marking the second such fatality within a two-month period. Investigators from the Ministry of Employment and Labour, alongside local police, are conducting a joint probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The deceased worker was reportedly engaged in the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier at the time of the accident. This latest fatality has intensified scrutiny on safety protocols and working conditions at the major shipbuilder, with authorities seeking to determine potential negligence or systemic issues that may have contributed to the recurring incidents.
